WordPress tasks

How to do it — or just ask.

Each guide gives you the complete manual method first, then shows the same job done in one sentence. No step withheld to make the product look necessary.

Every guide here covers the manual way in full. WordPress is genuinely awkward at some of these — there is no built-in duplicate button and no native bulk alt text editor — so the guides say so, and cover the plugin route where one is warranted.

Common WordPress tasks

Content

How to duplicate a page in WordPress

Duplicating a page copies its content and layout into a new draft so you can reuse a design without rebuilding it. It is the usual starting point for landing-page variants, seasonal versions of a page, and templates you reuse across a site.

Accessibility & SEO

How to add alt text to WordPress images

Alt text describes an image to people using screen readers and to search engines that cannot see it. It is required for accessibility, it is one of the few genuinely uncontested on-page SEO wins, and on most established sites a large share of images do not have it.

Maintenance

How to update WordPress and plugins safely

Updating applies security patches and bug fixes to WordPress core, plugins and themes. It is the single highest-value maintenance task, because most compromised WordPress sites are running a vulnerability that was patched before they were attacked.

How to back up a WordPress site

A WordPress backup is a copy of two separate things: the database, which holds your posts, settings, users and orders, and the files, which hold uploads, themes and plugins. A backup missing either one will not restore a working site.

How to bulk edit WooCommerce products and prices

Bulk editing changes many WooCommerce products at once instead of opening each one. It is what you need for a sale, a supplier price rise, a stock reconciliation, or any change that would otherwise mean editing eighty products by hand.

Why these exist

The keyword and the feature are the same thing

Every guide here documents something WP Duty can perform directly. That is not a coincidence in the marketing sense — it is what the product is. An instruction like “raise every price in this category by 8% except the ones already on sale” is a sentence, and it is also a job that would otherwise be a filtered export, a spreadsheet and a re-import.

Which means these pages have an obligation the usual how-to article does not: to be genuinely complete about the manual method. A guide that withholds a step to make the product look necessary is not a guide. If the manual route is fine for your situation, the guide should be enough on its own — and for a one-off task on a single site, it usually is.

The case for the product starts at repetition and scale: the same change across a catalogue, or the same job across eleven client sites, where the work is not difficult but doing it by hand is the entire afternoon. That is covered on managing multiple WordPress sites and in the agency overview.

Questions

WordPress tasks, answered.

Do I need a plugin for these WordPress tasks?

For some of them, yes. WordPress has no built-in way to duplicate a page, for example, and no native bulk alt-text editor. Each guide covers the manual method first, notes where a plugin genuinely helps, and is honest about what each approach misses.

Can WP Duty do these without me learning the steps?

Yes — that is the point of the product. But the guides give you the manual method in full anyway, because knowing what a task actually involves is what lets you judge whether the result is right, and because you may not always be working in WP Duty.

Can these run across several sites at once?

Yes. Every task here can be applied as a single instruction across a fleet of connected sites rather than repeated per site, with a snapshot taken on each one before anything changes.
